Meet Okaidja Afroso

My class and I have been taking african drumming, singing and dancing lessons. After one week of hard work we did an Africa Bridge celebration. To celebrate the Africa Bridge Project, all of the second grade classes did African singing, drumming, and dancing. Certain people did solos and we made a circle. We clapped and stomped our feet and cheered each other on when we were doing the solos. This is the order that the solos were in: Sahara, Xander, Emi, Wesley, and Jack. I had a lot of fun doing the Africa Bridge celebration- I want to do it every year!!!! It encouraged me of doing things that I did not think I was capable of doing. Okaidja was a very nice and kind artist in residence. He also told us two stories about a Ghana tale about someone named Anansay. One was the bean catastrophe and the other one was Anansay and the spider.

Karate class

I have Karate class after school on Tuesdays. My Karate  teacher’s name is Micheal. I like Karate class because Karate comes from Japan! There is a very cool thing that Micheal can do. He can do a Karate stance than go in to the splits! I have two friends that are doing Karate class with me and those two people are Max and Grady. I wish Karate class went on all year!

My Ecosystem

My Ecosystem is the rain forest and my animal is the Giant panda bear. The giant panda is mostly found the China rain forest.  I wanted to choose the Giant panda because I love pandas and I know that pandas are almost extinct. I just finished the rain forest ecosystem project- I painted the waterfall. Some other people that are studying the rain forest painted the backround and crumbled up  paper to make trees. I am also going to make a diorama. Did you know that pandas have six fingers!

My favorite place in Oregon

My favorite place in Oregon is Wings and Waves in McMinnville, Oregon. This is why Wings and Waves is my favorite place in Oregon- it is one of the largest water parks in Oregon!  I also like it because it goes up and out of the building and instead of just walking on a roof, they made part of the plane the roof on top! There are three slides that are different colors and different twists and turns. My favorite one was the Nosedive! There are other ones like the SonicBoom and the Twister. When I went to Wings and Waves, I went with my good friend from swim team, Jack L. We like the same scary dips and turns! In the middle of the slide there was this twirly part that you come shooting out of the dark spot of the slide, and you go round and round like down a toilet bowl. Sometimes you end up going backwards! But before you go into the hole, the slide goes really slow so that you do not know what to expect! It then shoots really fast when you go down the hole! We stayed there from when it opened until the slides closed. It was an really fun day.

What do you think you would like if you went to a water park like Wings and Waves?

Tanzania

Mrs. Amri went  on a plane to Tanzania. We made flat Stanley’s and Stella’s for all the kids in Tanzania, we gave them some pencils, dumb dumbs, some pencil sharpeners, some notes about us and some envelopes. We had A substitute for two weeks. We all had to make five flat Stanley’s and Stella’s. three of them were for  the kids in Tanzania one of the other  ones were meant to be for spring break the other one was meant to be for a homework assignment. Mrs. Amri brought one of our book box buddies and left him in Tanzania. The  book box buddy that she left in Tanzania is Eduardo the eagle. Mrs. Amri came back two days ago on the 28th.
